The Position: Under general direction, has responsibility for the overall direction and coordination of all branch operations and activities within clearly defined policies and procedures. Organizes and directs and where required actively participates in the daily activities of both the deposit and loan portfolios which may be comprised of deposits, consumer credit and commercial/agricultural lending, mortgages and investment products. Oversees the supervision of all branch staff; may be involved in the hiring of new staff, implements training and development programs, conducts performance appraisals and manages employee performance, conducts staff meetings and oversees operational problems and achievements. Markets services and products by implementing business plan objectives and works to enhance the Credit Union's image and profile in the community by supporting community organizations and attending community events. Actively pursues business development opportunities for the branch. Evaluates the effectiveness of branch systems and initiates action to improve branch efficiency, maintains proper security procedures and interprets and initiates action to improve adherence to established credit union policies and procedures.
Qualifications: The Successful candidate will posses a minimum of five years lending and branch management experience preferred within a credit union, bank or other similar type financial organization. The experience will include demonstrated examples of lending, marketing and business development. The applicant should be an effective communicator with good interpersonal and motivational skills. Proven success in cultivating and growing business will be a definite asset.
The Community / City: The Pas is situated in Central Manitoba about 500 km north of Winnipeg and 35 km from the Saskatchewan border on the banks of the Saskatchewan River. Today's population is approximately 6,600 persons. The trading area, which constitutes the Ralls Island farming community to the east, Carrot Valley farming community to the West, the Clearwater Lake and Rocky Lake communities to the north and surrounding First Nations Reservations, totals approximately 15,000 within a thirty mile radius. The Pas has an economic and cultural background as diverse as any in the province. The Pas has several major employers such as Tolko (Pulp & Paper Mill), University-College of The North (UCN), Manitoba Federal and Provincial Offices, Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN) and Hudson Bay Railway, and Nor-man Regional Health Authority. Farming. fishing, and logging support hundreds as well. Tourism is also very significant with pristine lakes and forests attracting tourists from across Canada and the U.S.
